ASSESSMENTS
Maximum Oxygen Uptake
Cardiovascular Fitness is assessed by estimating an individuals maximum oxygen consumption. This is related to how efficiently your body uses oxygen and correspondes to an individuals fitness level.
Body Fat Percentage
Skinfold measurements are used to determine the percent body fat as well as lean body mass of an individual. Even though it is an estimate, it has been proven to be quite accurate if performed by a properly trained technician.Peak Arm Muscle Power
This test is very similar to cross country skiing with out the snow, poles, and sies. It measures pea arm muscle power
Peak Leg Muscle Power
This is a 10 second sprint on a stationary bike. It measures peak leg power
Handgrip
The handgrip measurement is prediction of overall general strength and it directly measures forearm and grip strength. However, sincemany components such as speed, joint angle, and type of contraction determine muscle strength; the test is more of a test of muscle force
Sit and Reach
Sit and reach is a standard flexibility test of your hamstrings and lower back. It is also indicative of overall flexibility. Flexibility is an important part of fitness. A decrease in flexibility has been associated with decreased perfromance of daily activites as well as pain
Vertical Jump
This assesment examins a person's leg power by measuring how high off the ground he or she can jump. It is everyone's favorite assessment here at the Exercise Medicine Clinic.
Hand-eye coordination
This tests a person ability to coordinate their hands and eyes to find numbers 1-30 on a peg board as fast as possible.
